Back in December 2013, I did a series about the etymology of some of Tōkyō’s train lines. To Japanese, or people in the Greater Metropolitan Area at least, many of these train names are fairly straight forward. However to foreigners who can’t read kanji or who just haven’t really thought it about it, they are probably just taken for granted.
