If you’ve been following this series, we left the city of Edo a long time ago. In days of the shōguns, this was all just country. Until quite recently, this final leg of the Ōedo Line was still country. To this day, you’ll find some farmland and very few tall buildings. This is our penultimate station. Very soon we’ll pull into the last stop.

This is named after a shrine located in Nerima Ward. The shrine is 春日神社 Kasuga Jinja Kasuga Shrine. There is no connection with the Kasuga Station or Kasuga Street mentioned elsewhere on this blog, as far as I know. The number is impossible to count, but a minimum of 1000 shrines all over Japan are called Kasuga Shrine. This particular shrine was located on the lands of the 豊嶋氏 Toshima-shi Toshima clan. They would regularly visit it to pray for victory in battle.

Apparently, this 神 kami Shintō deity isn’t very strong. The clan was annihilated in the 1470’s. So much for intercessory prayer lol.

What is there to do or see here? I have no idea. Never been here and can’t think of a reason to come here.
